Stephen Paul Bryan

May 9, 1948 – April 27, 2026

Stephen Paul Bryan, 77, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, with his sister by his side. He was born on May 9, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, to Myron Victor Bryan and Rosalie Naomi (Wiebe) Zimmerman.

Born and raised in Denver, Stephen attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from North High School in 1966. During his youth, he was an active member of the Boy Scouts, an experience that ignited his lifelong passion for the outdoors. He also played the flute for the Junior Denver Policeman's Band, showcasing his musical talents and dedication to his community.

After graduation, Stephen began his career as a pressman until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. He served his country with honor, deployed first to Germany and later to Vietnam as a mechanical engineer. His military service demonstrated his commitment to duty and his technical expertise.

Following his tour of duty, Stephen returned to Denver and rejoined The Denver Post as a pressman, where he dedicated over 40 years of his professional life. His craftsmanship, reliability, and work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and friends throughout his distinguished career.

Stephen was saved at a young age and baptized at Beth Eden Baptist Church.

His true passions were found in the great outdoors. Stephen loved camping, fishing, and hunting, often accompanied by his beloved hunting dogs. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast who cherished the freedom of the open road. A devoted animal lover, Stephen shared his home and heart with several hunting dogs and cats throughout his life, treating each as a cherished member of his family.

Stephen will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his dedication to his craft, his service to his country, his love for animals, and his unwavering faith. His warm smile, generous nature, and unique sense of sarcasm touched the lives of all who knew him.

Stephen is survived by his sister, Joyce Sperry; two nieces, Heidi (Lonny) Elliott and Naomi (Anthony) Hopke; two great nephews, Bradley Peters (Sydne) and Darrien Hopke; two great nieces, Caleigh Hopke (Will) and Kendall Elliott (who he loved calling Dr. K.); two great-great nephews, Beckham Peters and Ezra Summerfield; and two great-great nieces, Aurohra Summerfield and Blakely Peters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron Victor Bryan and Rosalie Naomi (Wiebe) Zimmerman and brother-in-law Jerald Sperry.

Interment with military honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 27th at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Stephen's life and service to his country.

Stephen's legacy of service, love of country, and love for life will continue to inspire all who knew him.
