Thomas Weaver Obituary

On Tuesday, January 21, 2020, Thomas “Dean” Weaver passed away at the age of 86.

Thomas Dean Weaver was born September 28, 1933 in Brighton, Colorado to Leland (Brick) Thomas Weaver and Daisy Jane (Lloyd) (Weaver) Oberg.

As a young boy Dean went to school at North Elementary. He continued his education in Kansas where he eventually graduated from Salina High School. Following high school Dean entered into the Navy at the young age of 17 and served two tours in Korea on the USS DeHaven. It was during this time when he met and his beloved wife Jenny.  Dean and Jenny got married in Long Beach on August 10, 1953.

Dean proudly served our Navy for eight years. Upon being discharged from the Navy Dean moved his family to Colorado and eventually found a forever home in Brighton. During Dean and Jenny’s marriage the couple raised three children, Debbie, Tom, and Mike. They were blessed to have six grandchildren.

Dean was a Colorado State Patrol Officer from 1967 to 1974. He then worked as a brick mason for numerous years. In fact several of his projects are still used throughout Brighton today.  He retired from his last job as Chief Deputy Coroner for Adams County..

Dean had strong ties in the community though little league baseball and football coaching and continued as a booster with Brighton High School. Throughout his later years he also enjoyed donating much of his time to the VFW and American Legion. It had been a long standing tradition cooking breakfast for the community on the first Sunday of every month for over six years.

Dean was a staunch protector of his family. He never missed an opportunity to support both his children and grandchildren’s endeavors. While he always acted stern toward his grandbabies they always knew he was a loving big teddy bear.

He is survived by his children: Debbie (Kenny) Adkins, Thomas (Shawn) Weaver and Mike (Jennifer) Weaver; grandchildren, Tyler (Danielle) Weaver, Anthony Bralich, Alyssa (Devin) DeRocher, Chayce Weaver, Sydney Weaver and Braden Weaver.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jenny; and infant daughter Tammy.

A Celebration of Dean's life will be held at Tabor Rice Funeral Home, 75 South 13th Avenue, Brighton, CO 80601 on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.
