Todd Harms Obituary

Todd Wayne Harms, born June 11, 1965, passed away on May 1, 2025, after a life defined by immense courage, deep love, and unwavering spirit. He was 59 years old.

For thirty years, Todd lived with the lasting effects of a traumatic head injury, facing each day with a strength of spirit that inspired everyone who knew him. He was a warrior in the truest sense—not because he fought without fear, but because he faced fear with heart and determination. Todd was a living testament to the power of perseverance, showing those around him what it meant to live with grace, vulnerability, and fierce love.

He loved deeply and unapologetically—his love was the kind that changed people, made them feel seen, and reminded them that life, even in its hardest moments, was worth living. To his son, Ian, age 25, he was not only a father, but a hero and a friend.

In 2024, Todd moved to Tennessee with his son, Ian, and his nephew, Jordan—both of whom were not only his caretakers but also his closest companions and devoted friends. It was a final adventure filled with laughter, connection, and shared strength, reflecting the essence of how Todd chose to live: with presence, purpose, and love.

Todd had a lifelong passion for classic rock and metal music—the louder, the better. He believed in the power of good food, good music, and good company. He especially loved hanging out with his nephews and always had a special place in his heart—and a funny comment—for his nephew Isaac, who never failed to bring a smile to his face.

Todd also deeply appreciated his lifelong friend Jeff Johnson, a high school buddy who, in Todd’s words, “stuck with me through it all.” Some of his all-time favorite meals were the homemade enchiladas and stuffed peppers lovingly made for him over the years by his ex-wife, Maria Montoya, whom he always held dear.

He is survived by his beloved son, Ian; his siblings Caroline Loyd, Steve Harms, Penny Moe, and Robert Harms; and his nephews Jordan and Isaac. He was preceded in death by his parents, Penn and Darlene Harms, his brother Gary Harms, his brother Daryl Borrows and his grandparents. He leaves behind countless friends and family members whose lives were touched by his humor, honesty, and remarkable courage.
