Wilbur H. Wafel
Wilbur H. Wafel, age 83, passed away on, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at his home in Keenesburg, Colorado. Wilbur was born in Appleton City, Missouri on November 20, 1941, of three children, Marvin and Carlene Wafel. He was born to Carl and Ethel Wafel.
He had been baptized in infancy at the Lutheran Church in Appleton City, Missouri on December 30, 1941. On June 20, 1970, he was united in marriage with Mary S. Gordon, in Lincoln Missouri. Following their marriage they made their home in Keenesburg, Colorado in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Wafel of the home; two sons, Charlie Wafel of Colorado Springs and John Wafel and his wife Kellee Wafel of Surprise Arizona, five grandchildren; Emma, Cale, Tessa, Brynna, Kaitlynn Wafel, and other relatives and many friends.
Wilbur was an active member of the Keenesburg community by being a member on the Town Board, Planning Commission, Hudson, Colorado Library board, Park Committee, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Wilbur received the Lifetime Award from the Chamber of Commerce. He successfully established a Tree City USA in Keenesburg.
In lieu of flowers, please provide donations in Wilbur Wafel’s name to the Keene Clinic, Hudson Library, or Southeast Weld County Fair Board. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion, Post 180 595 Railroad Ave, Keenesburg, CO 80643, on June 14, 2025, from 1:00pm-4:00p.m.
